October 6, 1944 – February 27, 2025

With profound sadness, we announce the loss of Patricia Brooks, who passed on surrounded by her family at the age of 80. A woman of warmth, wit, and unwavering kindness, Pat’s spirit enriched the lives of all who knew her.

Born in Toledo, Ohio, Pat dedicated 30+ years of service to the City of Baton Rouge, where her diligence and commitment made a lasting impact on the community she loved. Beyond her professional accomplishments, much of her life was spent as a dedicated Mom to her only child, never missing an important milestone or sporting event. She was a pillar of support and love which enabled Brenna to become the woman she is today.

Throughout the years, she embraced life through her many diverse passions. Her creativity flourished through crocheting and sewing. Many people in her life benefited from a beautiful blanket or thoughtful piece of clothing. Her mind delighted in the challenge of puzzles, and her imagination traveled through the pages of countless books and movies.

Pat was known for her legendary pumpkin squares, which she lovingly baked for her daughter, and her enthusiastic support of LSU athletics. She could always be found cheering on the women’s basketball, softball, and gymnastics teams, as well as the men’s football and baseball programs, her voice rising above the crowd in celebration.

Time with family was Pat’s greatest joy and she could often be caught reminiscing about the past and all the amazing memories with those she loved. She treasured simple pleasures—challenging herself with
games on her iPad, taking leisurely drives, discovering new restaurants, and exploring the world through travel. Her approach to life was marked by a breezy, adaptable spirit and a persistent determination
when she set her mind to something.

Pat’s legacy of forgiveness, love, and sweetness lives on through her husband and companion, Roy Brooks Jr.; her favorite child Brenna Vicedomini, and her wife Martha; her brother Denis Ciaciuch, and his
wife Patsy; her cousin Kris Rood; and her sister-in-law Sharon Sims.

Her readiness for any adventure, her infectious humor, and her kind heart have left an indelible mark on our lives. Though we mourn her absence, we celebrate the beautiful memories she created and the love
she shared so generously.

A celebration to honor Pat’s remarkable life will be held on May 18 in Baton Rouge. To request additional information about the celebration please email bamcohaus@gmail.com. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests donations be made to the Human Rights Campaign, an organization that works to advance and protect the rights of LGBTQ+ people. (https://give.hrc.org)

“Always up for anything” until the very end, Pat’s spirit remains our guide and comfort as we navigate life without her physical presence.
