Martha Gerald Watts

Martha Gerald Watts passed at the age of 91 at her home in Livingston, Louisiana on March 23, 2025. She was born on February 25, 1934 to her parents James and Cynthia Gerald in Pine, Louisiana. Martha worked as a teacher throughout East Baton Rouge and Livingston Parish for many years after receiving her Masters Plus 30. As a member of Colyell Baptist Church, she was devout in her faith and enjoyed teaching Sunday School for many years. Reading was a favored pastime of hers and she was beyond happy to spend her time curled up with a book. Martha loved her family and devoted herself to them and her Lord. She will be deeply missed by her loved ones and all those that had the joy to know her.
She is survived by daughter Cynthia Wheat (Purvis), granddaughter Lacey Coleman (Tyler), grandson Dylan Watts, great-grandchildren Parker Matherne, Corbin Matherne, and Kayden Coleman, daughter-in-law Glenda Watts, brothers Gaston Gerald (Lorraine) and Kelly Ray Gerald (Evelyn), and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Alvis N. Watts, an infant daughter, son Randall Watts, grandchild Elizabeth Watts, parents ‘Ed’ and Cynthia Gerald, brothers Wilton Gerald, Cliff Gerald, Brock Gerald, and Russell Gerald.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Gerald, Kendall Gerald, Jeremy Gerald, Kyle Stephens, Lee Michael Watts, and Brian Creery.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Pinnacle Hospice, especially Shanna, Cait, and Leona for their love and care during this time.

There will be a visitation at Colyell Baptist Church on Thursday, March 27 from 5pm to 8pm and will resume Friday, March 28 from 9am to 11am with a service starting at 11am. Burial will follow at Watts Cemetery.
