Harvey Carroll Tate

Harvey Carroll Tate, 92, a life long resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025. Harvey served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Once discharged, he began to serve his community through teaching and eventually becoming the first Principal of Northside Elementary School in Denham Springs. Upon retiring from the Livingston Parish School System, he began working at the Louisiana Department of Corrections as an Agent and as a Specialist. Along side his many careers and jobs, he always found time for woodworking and carpentry, gardening and listening to Gospel music. He was also an active member of Watson Baptist Church. Harvey was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, colleague and friend and his impact on his community will be felt for many years to come.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Verna Tate; father, Elzie Tate; stepmother, Zina Tate; granddaughter, Jana Lynne Crawford; and sisters, Elaine Jordan and Verna Lee Young.

Harvey is survived by his loving wife, Sue Strickland Tate; children and their spouses, Carol and Keith Rachal, Cissy and Brian Whittington, Jann and Mike Loyd, Jeremy and Ashley Starns, Denise and Jeff Latil, and John Tate; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, Tuesday, April 1, from 9 a.m. until service at 11:30 a.m., officiated by his pastor, Rev. John Pemberton. Burial will follow in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery, with Military Honors. Please share your condolences at .
