Dawn Denise Kerr Dartez passed at the age of 58 on April 7, 2025. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on May 25, 1966 to her parents Charles Gilbert Hoover and Sharon Devereaux. Dawn worked in management services and as a professional housekeeper before dedicating the rest of her life as a homemaker. In her free time, she enjoyed listening to music, singing karaoke, gardening, crafting, and crocheting. Dawn was a bright and lovely person, and she will be dearly missed by the many people that had the privilege to know and love her.
She is survived by her spouse Devin Ray Dartez, daughter Brandy Lynette Pitre and Erica Brooke Kerr, step-daughter Erica Rae Dartez, grandchildren Samira Dartez, Emmerie Dartez, and Oliver Dartez, sisters Sherri Lynn Hoover and Elizabeth Ann Queen (Chris), brother Charles Bland Hoover, nieces Savannah Peyton Hoover, Jessica Katelin Maddox, Kerigan Elizabeth Gunter, Rebecca Christine Gunter, Danielle Nichole Hoover, and Kaylee Stepp, nephews Roger Alan Rowlett and Flynn Rowlett, friends Lycinda “Cindy” King, Martha Windham, Carlyn “Shine” Rocket, Kevin and Aida Dartez, Pamela Bonich, Rebecca Hill, Jim Toner, and Kim Pace.
Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Pitre, Tim Pitre, and Jacob Trent.
She is preceded in death by her parents Charles Gilbert Hoover and Sharon Anne Hoover, son Derek Joseph Pitre, niece Rebecca Anne Rowlett, and aunt Glenda Toner.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
There will be a visitation held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 9am to 11am with a memorial service starting at 11am.

I didn’t know you got married. From what I’ve read, it seems to me that you found a perfect partner in life. I’m glad for you on that. She sounds like a person who was full of fun. A person that I would have liked to know. I am deeply saddened by your loss.
Having been married for almost fifty five years, I couldn’t imagine losing Peggy.
My heart is heavy for you today. But, you have known true love. That’s something many people never experience.
