Barbara Dicharry Bergeron passed at the age of 87 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on April 8, 2025. She was born on June 25, 1937, to her parents Alvin Joseph Dicharry and Reaney Cazenave Dicharry in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Barbara worked as a secretary at Dow Chemicals for many years after earning her degree from LSU. She brought her enduring spirit and little black suitcase to countless swim meets, but her spirits were never higher than when she escaped Summers for the majestic mountains engulfing Lake City, CO. She will be deeply missed and remembered by all she touched.
She is survived by her sons Rhett Leon Bergeron, M.D. (Dawn) and Mark Christopher Bergeron (Sara) and daughter Michelle Bergeron Serret (Patrick Joseph); grandchildren Logan, Anna Grace, and Dylan Bergeron (children of Rhett and Dawn), Brandon and Cameron Bergeron (children of Mark), and Brianna and Brylee Serret (children of Michelle and Patrick); her sister Gail Dicharry Varisco; and nephews Kerry Mark Varisco Jr., Christopher Kyle Varisco (Kelly), and Patrick Ryan Varisco (Kate).
She is preceded in death by her husband Cecil J. Bergeron, M.D., parents Alvin Joseph and Reaney Cazenave Dicharry, son Jon Gregory Bergeron, brother Steven Dicharry, and brothers-in-law Kerry Mark Varisco Sr. and Ruffin Leon Bergeron.
There will be a memorial service starting at 11am at St. James Episcopal on April 26, 2025. A reception will follow at St. James Parish Hall.
