Billie Rose Henson, age 74, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025. She was born and raised in Pikeville, TN but had resided in Baton Rouge, LA for several years. Billie loved music, reading, hunting arrowheads and other Native American artifacts, and spending time with the people she loved. Billie loved the outdoors and could usually be found with her many plants or just being outside. She was passionate about wildlife and wetland conservation. She spent many summers floating the river near her Tennessee home. At one time in her life, Billie decided to get a job as a long-haul truck driver so she could see the entire United States. She loved to write poetry and really had a way with words on a page. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearlie and Ora Henson, her brother Onva “Sonny” Henson, and her nephew Allen Henson. She is survived by her daughters, Melora Layne and Destiny Kelley, her granddaughter Lillian Sheesley, her partner Bruce Clark, brother Waymon (Peggy) Henson, nieces and nephews as well as her partner’s son Cole.
Billie was a free spirit. She was loved and admired by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She marched to the beat of her own drum. She was also her daughters’ biggest cheerleader.
In lieu of flowers and other gifts, the family requests donations to the ALS Association https://secure2.convio.net/alsa/site/Donation2?df_id=43364&mfc_pref=T&43364.donation=form1&s_src=donatebutton
