Gabriel Joey Andrews, Sr. passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025 with his wife by his side. He was 67 and a resident of Holden, LA. Joey was born in Independence, LA on September 5, 1957. He retired as a carpenter from Louisiana State University with 20 years of dedicated service. Joey was married to Lilly Owens Andrews on May 8, 1981. Lilly showed unwavering devotion in his final days. They had one beautiful daughter, Ashleigh Grantham, and one handsome son, Gabriel Joey Jr. “Gabe”. Joey loved his children, but he especially adored and doted on his two grandsons, Mason and Ty. Hunting was a favorite hobby through the years. Joey was loved by many and will definitely be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Lilly Andrews, daughter Ashleigh Grantham (Carter), son Gabe, and he was Pop to grandsons Mason and Ty, and his grand dog, Gypsy. Also survived by mother, Joyce Andrews, sisters Linda Holden, Jeannel Albin (Earl), Rita Wilson (Bruce), brothers David Andrews and Darryl Andrews, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father Leslie Andrews, mother in law Virgie Owens, and father in law Ray Owens.
Pallbearers will be David Andrews, BJ Canizaro, Ronnie DiMaggio, Adam Owens, Chad Wilson, and Eddie Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are Darryl Andrews, Glen “Moby” James, and Jim Wriska.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to The Crossing at Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM with a service starting at 11:00 at Seale Funeral Home in Livingston. Procession to follow for interment at The River Church Cemetery.
