Jimmie Rufus Breshears Jr., of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away at his home on May 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Though he faced times of distance, Jimmie was never without love—especially from his many family members in Texas and beyond, who cherished him deeply despite the miles and years between them. He was known for his quick wit, an ever-present smile, and a gift for making others laugh, even in hard times.

A hardworking man with a love for the outdoors, Jimmie found joy in working with his hands. He was a skilled woodworker and handyman who took pride in building patios, doing yard work, and making any space feel like home. He loved to prank his children and tell scary stories. His children can still picture him laughing with his hand in front his mouth. Talking like Donald Duck to amuse his children and laying on the floor for what seemed like hours allowing his girls to put his hair in pony tails; having all the kids take turns walking on his back to try to pop it.

Jimmie is survived by his longtime partner, Sally King & her family. He is also survived by his children: Jacob  Breshears and his fiancée Amber Hammers; Mary Doyal and her husband Ronald “Lynn” Doyal Jr.; Barbara “Barbie” Breshears and her husband Jason Raley; Megan  Diaz and her husband Rafael Hernandez; and Jimmie “J.P.” Doyal-Breshears. He is also remembered by his former wife, Dorothy Furrer, the mother of his oldest children.

He was the grandfather to Jordan, Ty, Liberty, Stevye, Skiler, Jared, Christian, Logan, Kimberlynn, Chloe, Tristan, Xavier, Adrian “AJ,” Thalia, Bronx, and Emery. His great-grandchildren include Noah, Paisley, Oaklynn, and Carterlynn.

Jimmie is also survived by his mother, Louise Strickland; his stepmother, Roxana Strickland; his sisters, Debra Richmond and her husband David, and Jinice Baker and her husband Dwayne; his brother, J. Christian Klopf; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition, Jimmie is survived by his lifelong best friend, Robert “Bobby” Waltmon who referred to Jimmie as “Bubba”, and countless others who lovingly claimed him as “Uncle Jimmie”—a title he wore with pride and warmth.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Tina Marie Breshears; his dad Cecil Strickland; and his biological father, Jimmie R. Breshears Sr., whom he met later in life and with whom he shared a bond.

Jimmie’s legacy is one of strength, humor and silly antics. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Details regarding a celebration of life will be shared by the family at a later date.
