June Purgley Spencer, 83, of Port Sulphur, Louisiana passed away on Friday, May 23rd 2025 at St. Elizabeth’s in Gonzales, Louisiana.

She was the wife of the late Loyd Spencer and shared 36 years together. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, She was the daughter of Ruby Mae and Stephen Purgley, also her second mother Marjorie Purgley. She was employed at PARC in Plaquemines Parish as an assistant teacher, eventually becoming the principal caring for adults with cognitive disorders. She enjoyed traveling, particularly beaches, spending time with family, and loved all animals. She will be remembered as our “Junie B”, her sassy ways, and always ready for adventures.

She is survived by her sisters Stephanie Purgley (Laurie), Cindy Morgan (Rene), and brother Hugh Purgley (Ginger), niece Corrine Purgley, nephews Evan Purgley, Jason and Bryan Malliet, and great niece Cassidy Malliet. Daughter, Greta Frelich (Kevin), grandchildren Shantelle F. Petrovich (Kuzma), David Frelich (Susan), Jake Frelich (Mallorie), Colby Frelich (Rebecca) and great-grandchildren Hunter Frelich, Reece Frelich, Mila, Kaden and Vedran Petrovich. She adored any animal, but especially her parrot Gabby and cat Kitty Koo.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ruby Mae and Stephan Purgley and second mother Marjorie Purgley, her husband Loyd Spencer, daughter Ruby Roth, sister Betty Griffin, and great granddaughter Kenndey Frelich.

The visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025 from 11am-1pm at Seale Funeral Home 1720 South Range Avenue, Denham Springs, LA 70726. A short memorial will take place after visitation. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Special Olympics or Breast cancer Awareness.

    Mrs June was very sweet, full of life, and caring lady. It was a true honor to have known her. Our love and prayers are sent to her family. May the special memories you hold in your heart of her bring comfort to you during this time. She was a beautiful lady inside and out. She will be missed!
