Dear Cassie and the Hubert family,
Our hearts are heavy as we learn of Donald’s passing. We are deeply saddened by the loss of such a wonderful man who touched so many lives with his warmth, humor, and generous spirit.
We have wonderful memories of Donald from when we were all children together. Those carefree days seem like yesterday, and we will always hold those precious times, hanging with the Huberts, BBQing, cooking crawfish, or whatever the family activities were chosen, close to our hearts. Donald’s infectious smile and kind nature were evident even then, and it brings us comfort to know that these same qualities continued to shine throughout his life as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
We know that Donald fought ALS with incredible courage and grace, living life to the fullest, surrounded by the love of his family. While we are devastated, for your loss, we find solace in knowing that he is now at peace, free from suffering, and reunited with Jerry, Rhonda, Steve, Sweet Aunt Shirley and old uncle Gerald. Can’t imagine the laughing and tales being told as they are all reunited, hopefully this thought brings you comfort and peace.
The devastating impact that ALS has had on the family is heartbreaking beyond words. In Donald’s honor and memory, we will be making a donation to ALS research in lieu of flowers, with the hope that future generations might be spared from this terrible disease. We are saddened that we will not be able to attend the service for Donald because we are both working out of town together, but know that Jeff and I are there in spirit.
Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. We pray that God will wrap His loving arms around each of you and provide you with the strength, peace, and comfort that only He can give. May the beautiful memories of Donald’s life bring you solace in the days ahead, and may you feel the presence of the Lord carrying you through your grief. We are blessed to have known him and to call him family.
With all our love and deepest sympathy,
Mark and Cathy Mire Jeff and Jan Mire
(Family of Phyllis Hubert Mire)
God bless, and know that our prayers are with you.
