Darnell “Darnie” Erwin, beloved wife, mother, and mawmaw, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, at the age of 73 at her home. She was a kind, loving, and generous woman. Throughout her life, Darnell was known for her love of the Great Smoky Mountains and her strength and unwavering support for her family.

She was a devoted wife to Don H. Erwin for 56 years, a nurturing mother to her children, Donna and Dean, and a loving mawmaw to her grandchildren, Katelynn, Colby, and Abby.

She is survived by her husband, Don H. Erwin; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Paul McLin; son, Dean Erwin; and grandchildren, Katelynn, Colby, and fiancé, Kylie, and Abby; two brothers, Mike Cotton Sr, and Ronnie Cotton. Also, there are many other family members and dear friends.

She was met in heaven by her father, S.E. Cotton; mother, Hazel Cotton; and brother, Rusty. What a glorious reunion.

Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Wednesday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A procession will lead to New Bethlehem Baptist Church with service starting at 12:30 p.m., led by Rev. Tim Pruitt. Burial will follow in New Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Paul McLin, Ross Moland, Kris Sibley, Brandon Ruff, Michael Cotton Jr, and Jacob Cotton. Honorary pallbearers will be Colby Erwin and Katelyn McLin.

    So so sorry for your families loss. Mrs Darniw was a very kind and caring lady. She will be missed by all who knew her.

    Darnell was one of a kind. I only worked with her for little over a year, but she made a lasting impression on me.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Darnell from her days working at the Live Oak Supermarket and then the years she spent at Bernard’s Pharmacy. Undoubtedly one of the sweetest ladies I ever met. R. I. P. Darnell. You will be missed.

    I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs Darnell, she was a wonderful lady, she worked for many years in watson she always had a smile and so sweet and never met a stranger! Sending my condolences to all of you
