Mildred Laverne Martin, 80, passed away March 18, 2023 at her home in Prairieville, LA. She was born in Colyell, LA March 31, 1942 to the parents Vance and Irene (Devall) McCon. She leaves behind her loving husband of 63 yrs 9 mths and 8 days, Clinton Martin, Son Russell (Lorey) Martin, Honorary Son, Jeffery Newsom, daughters, Cindy Bettencourt and Lori (Dominic) Cappo, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, sisters Hilda (Roy) Johnson, and Wilda (Robert) Eddleman. Laverne was preceded in death by her parents Vance and Irene McCon, son, Joseph Gaylon Martin, grandson, Stephen Vance Duffy, and her mother and father in law, Ray and Carlease Martin. Graveside service will be held at the Colyell Community Cemetery, Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow at the Colyell Baptist Church Hall. The family would like to greatly thank Dr. Evans Smith and Dr. Sobia Ozaire for the special care given to our mom. We would also like to thank Baton Rouge Hospice for their care to our mom and family. May we all have the Faith in God and show the bravery that she did in life and in her battle with Ovarian Cancer.

Mrs. Laverne was a very special lady. She was a sweet person that I enjoyed being around and talking with. May God bless each of you and Mr. Clinton I want you to know that we will be praying for you. We have fond memories of you and Mrs. Laverne.
