He then began his 50-year career in the insurance business, providing his clients with financial security. Don was recognized throughout his career as a top producer in the industry.

Don served as the Athletic Director for Saint Thomas More School in the early 1970s.  Although Don had been a gifted athlete himself, his love of sports continued through coaching for many years.  His enthusiasm was infectious as he inspired everyone, especially his players.

Debbie, our sincere condolences for the loss of Don. Growing up, the Vicksburg cousins were always thrilled when our Louisiana “kin” came to visit and we were able to spend time together at my Grandmother and Grandfather Shally’s house. Unfortunately, time and career paths have made family get togethers somewhat of a thing of the past. My wife and I were fortunate enough to attend the reunion several years ago and reconnect with the past = of which Don, his parents and siblings are and remain a major part. Our love, prayers and respect to the family. Bob and Alecia Shally

Don was a great person. I have not seen Don for many years but at LSU we were in the same fraternity and we were good friends. I always valued Don as close friend. He was an inspiration to me. May he rest in peace. Ronnie Hebert

So sad to learn of Don’s passing. I always admired the “Baton Rouge branch” of our family and enjoyed visiting when we could. Don’s Father Donald and my Mother Ethel were double-first cousins (my grandparents were Randall and Mabel Shally). My thoughts and prayers are with all the Plaisance family.

I have worked with Don for about 28 years at American National, he has always been an agent and man that I have looked up too. One of the funniest and kindest man I have ever met. This loss will go beyond his family, we all will miss him very much. Prayers for his family

    Lloyd and Debbie,
Very sorry to learn today of Don’s passing. Since 4th grade I considered Don and Lloyd my best friends. I spent many nights at their home with lovely
Miss Ella who was always warm and peasant to be around. In fact when she came to kiss her sons good night I received one too. Too many years have passed now and I have not seen any of ya’ll but I treasure my memories of all of you to this day. So today I am looking into flights from CA to LA
I would love to come to Don’s memorial service.

So sorry to hear of Don’s passing. He truly was a motivator of people and a great coach. More than that, he will be known as a fine Christian man with family values, second to none. He coached me at St. Thomas More. Rest in peace coach!
