Daniel “Crickett” B. Dunlap, Jr., 80, of Denham Springs, died peacefully at home on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
Crickett was born on August 21, 1943 in Sylacauga, Alabama. He is an Army veteran and served in Germany from 1966 to 1968. Crickett became a pipefitter, traveling around the United States helping to build nuclear power plants. He eventually retired with Local 198. After retiring as a pipefitter, he enjoyed working as a casino dealer in Natchez, Mississippi. His work as a dealer eventually led him to the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi where he was promoted to pit boss. Out of all of Crickett’s achievements, he was most proud of his service to our country.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Dunlap, mother and stepfather Doris Jean & Dennis Folse, father and stepmother Daniel B. & Joan Dunlap, Sr., and his stepson Danny Melton and granddaughter BreAnn Nolan. Survivors include son Craig Dunlap, stepdaughter Debbie Nolan, brother Steve (Pam) Dunlap, and sister Linda Dunlap (Ken) Rohrig. Crickett also leaves behind grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A graveside service will be at held at Louisiana National Cemetery, 303 West Mount Pleasant Zachary, La 70791. This service will be scheduled at a later date.
