In Loving Memory of Christian Taylor Shilling
Christian Taylor Shilling was born on May 13, 1997, in Baton Rouge to Jonelle Laughlin and Justin Shilling marking the beginning of a beautiful journey that would touch the lives of many.
Tragically, on January 14, 2024, Christian’s light was extinguished far too soon at Ochsner Medical Center. Though his time with us was cut short, his impact and memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him.
Christian was preceded in death by his father, Justin, and grandfather, Darrell Laughlin.
Christian is survived by his mother, Jonelle, his brothers, Colin and Caiden Bourgeois, and his loving girlfriend, Brooklyn Howze, who is carrying their daughter, Ocean Shilling. Christian’s love and legacy will live on in the precious life he created, and Ocean will grow up knowing her father’s immense love and the impact he made on those around him.
Among those mourning Christian’s untimely departure are his paternal grandmother, Mary Glascock Shilling; his maternal grandmother, Christine Black; his aunts and uncles, Brittany, John, Michael, and Jenna Laughlin, Johnathan and Ashley Shilling, and Kyra Triche; his cousins, Haiden, Connor, Tyler, and Hailey Laughlin, Ian and Alyssa Siefford, Ethan Shilling, and Stephanie McNemar; his stepfather, Brock Bourgeois; the Howze and Bossier Family; the Reeves Family; and his beloved dog, Stormy.
Christian’s vibrant spirit was fueled by his love for family, music, and football season. He brought an infectious energy into every room he entered, filling it with laughter and joy. Christian was the life of the party, never meeting a stranger and leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross paths with him. He was the best friend one could ever ask for, offering unwavering loyalty to all who sought his companionship.
Christian Taylor Shilling may no longer be physically present among us, but his spirit will forever live on in the memories and hearts of his loved ones. May he find eternal peace and happiness in the arms of the angels, and may his family find solace in the beautiful memories they shared with him.
Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Livingston, LA, Monday, January 22, from 10 a.m. until service at 12 p.m., with burial to follow at Stafford Cemetery #1, Holden, LA. Service will be officiated by Rev. Keith Payne.

Psalm 34:18
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit
