July 24, 2024by SealeUser0

Miss Randee Lane Palmer, a life-long resident of Denham Springs died on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the age of 78.  She was born on April 27, 1946.

Although Randee never had a child of her own, she showered her nieces and nephews with love. She adored them and they loved her.  Her sister Margaret lived in Pineville so she traveled to see her and her family whenever she could. She enjoyed serving in church as a Primary teacher and children’s music leader. She loved children.  Randee enjoyed music, especially classical, showtunes, and church hymns. She was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Randee attended all 12 years of school at Denham Springs. She was an honor student throughout her youth. She was disappointed if she earned less than an A—which was rare. She was a member of numerous honor societies and attended the Literacy Rally (American History) her senior year in 1964.  It was no surprise when she finished third in her graduating class of about 200 students.  She was an honor graduate at Southeastern University in 1967 and attended graduate school at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She maintained friendships for decades with some of her college friends.

Throughout her entire life Randee was a hard worker. She was a baby-sitter as a teen and a nanny while at college.  After college she went to work for the State of Louisiana in the Dept. of Public Welfare.  The last 10 years of her career she worked as a Child Welfare Specialist, requiring considerable travel.  She retired after 33 years.

Randee was a generous, kind and friendly person.  She was an excellent record keeper, documenting most events important to her and her family. She loved cats her entire life. Most childhood photos show her holding a kitten. She lived with her cat “Bitsy” for seventeen years.  Randee also had a wonderful sense of humor.  She loved reading until she couldn’t see, then she began listening to books on tape.

During her last ten years Randee suffered from severe Macular Degeneration and Alzheimer’s.  She relied on her family and caretaker to enable her to remain in her home. She grew to love her sweet caretaker, Jennifer Mason, her husband and two sons, Dylan and Kamryn. They gave her lots of hugs and brought joy into her life. Randee loved the boys as if they were her own grandchildren.  She was truly happy.

She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Randee is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Rosalie Bowman Palmer and Nathan Albert “Red” Palmer, Sr.; baby brother, Nathan Albert Palmer, Jr.; and sister, Ruth Kingsbury.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret Huddleston (William) of Pineville, LA; ten nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; first cousins Richard Keen (Arlene), and Danny Keen (Judy) of Denham Springs, and Wendell Keen (Linda) of Baton Rouge.

The viewing will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 25367 Riverton Avenue, Denham Springs, at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 27.  The funeral will follow at 1:00 P.M.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.sealefuneral.com
