Russell Joseph Aydell, Sr., 76, a life long resident of French Settlement, passed away September 14, 2024 at his home. He served his country in the United States Army and worked for many years as a pressman for the State Times/Baton Rouge Advocate. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Tonya Lynne Aydell, Russell Joseph Aydell Jr. (Angelle), and Berlin Michael Aydell; sister, Annette Aydell Simoneaux (Mac); brother, John Dale Aydell (Sandi); sister-in-law, Leverne Aydell; former sister-in-law, Sondra Lambert; grandchildren, Felicia Simoneaux, Ellis Willie IV, Kelsey Willie, and Russell Joseph Aydell III; great-grandchildren, Jace and Abel; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and hunting club buddies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Berlin Paul Aydell Sr and Leola Aydell Aydell; siblings, Berlin Paul Aydell, Judy Aydell Ponthieux, Carol Aydell Jolly, and Billy Aydell; former wife, Margie Lee Miller Aydell; and grandson, Brandan Aydell.

Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monday, September 23, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass at 11 a.m. Please share your condolences at www.sealefuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, French Settlement

    To the Aydell Family,
    I’m so sorry about Russell. You have my deepest sympathy and prayers.
    Russell was one of a kind. He helped me so much through the years. I will always remember him as a very special friend and a great guy. I will truly miss him.

    To the Russell Aydell Family,
    I am so very sorry for your loss. My prayers and sympathy are with all of you. Russell was a very kind, special and caring person. I will always remember him. He helped my mother (Sadie) so much through the years. He will truly be missed. May God be with you all and give you peace and comfort in your time of need and always.

    Aydell Families: So sorry to learn of Russell’s passing. Such a well liked man . He was so devoted to helping others that needed help. RIP my friend
