Kenneth “Abe” Russell Mitchell, 79 years old, beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, and Friend, was called home on January 31, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 29, 1945 to Minnie Lee Emerson Mitchell and Austin Mitchell in Vina, Alabama. He was an avid hunter, running dogs; hunting rabbits, turkeys, and quails. When he was not hunting, he was working or spending time with his amazing grandkids that he adored. He was a member of the Local 406, and longtime member of the Satsuma Hunting Club and a heavy equipment operator.
Abe is survived by his sons, Rusty Mitchell and wife, Tonya, Richard Mitchell, and Kevin Mitchell and wife, Amanda; daughter, Kayla Crouse and husband, Jonathan; grandchildren, Miranda Kellem and husband, Brian, Renee Brown and husband, Roman, Bailey Mitchell, Makaylyn Woodruff, Mariah Woodruff, Colton Hill, and Charleigh Crouse; great grandchildren, Weston Kellem, Emerson Kellem, Ellie Brown, Avery Brown and Dax Templain; brother, David Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews and many close friends.
Abe is preceded in death by his wife, Gayle Booth Mitchell; his parents; brothers, Bud Mitchell, and Raymond Mitchell; sister, Helen Childers; and close friend, Donald Arbor.
Pallbearers will be Bo Achord, Jimmy Saizan, Randy Singleton, Tim Williams, Randy McCoy, and James Hutchinson.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM conducted by Brother Johnny Morgan. Graveside service will immediately follow at Salem Cemetery.

Rusty,Richard,Kevin and Kayla I’m so sorry for your loss, Kennth was a good man everyone looked up to him and he was very much respected he diffidently loved his hunting! He’s at rest now no more pain and I’m sure he’s doing some great hunting with his friends that have gone on. Keeping all of you in my prayers

Rest in peace pawpaw you were the best pawpaw ever i miss you already and you have only been gone for 3 days but trust me you family misses you. You well all ways be in my heart and I hope your in heaven hunting with Mr donnie (his best friend) and I bet you are hunting with jack (his favorite dog) and you’re sibling and dad and get to see your beautiful wife and you will be in no pain because if you know him as much as I do he is a very independent man love Bailey granddaughter

I went hunting with Mr. Abe running the show one time and only one time. I walked and walked and walked and walked some more. Mr Abe was a legend but you couldn’t make him believe so. His kind are very few left walking on this earth. You will never meet another like him as a man. My prayers and condolences to all of the family.
