Verna Wascom Lee passed at the age of 87 on February 11, 2025. She was born in Walker, Louisiana on July 23, 1937 to her parents O’Neal and Lois Wascom. She graduated from high school and was a registered LPN, working as a nurse at both Ochsner and Dixon Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Satsuma Baptist Church and enjoyed spending her time crocheting, traveling, cooking, and reading her Bible.
She is survived by daughter Betty L. Garon (Jerry), sons Glenn D. Lee, James “Darvin” Lee (Debbie), and Raymond “Marvin” N. Lee (Ferra), grandchildren Scott D. Brady (Marie), Shawn M. Montgomery (Charlie), Michael E. Brady (Melinda), Shannon D. Lee, Dawn M. Lee, and Chris J. Lee (Jenna), step-grandchildren Jason L. Allen (Patricia), Kimberly Sanchez (Keith), Michael S. Geter, and Jackie Rushing, many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her spouse of 57 years Albert J. Lee “A.J.”, parents O’Neal and Lois Wascom, sisters Eloise Williams, Pat Wascom, and Vert Severio, and brothers Leroy Wascom, Duke Wascom, Ricky Wascom, Larry Wascom, and Jessie Wascom.
There will be a visitation held at Satsuma Baptist Church on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 10am to 12pm with a service starting at 12pm. Burial will follow at Satsuma Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mom I’m trying to put into words and all I can come up is you was the most awesome Christian lady that everyone loved. You were the best mother in law I could ever ask for. I will treasure all of the memories we had together. Mom I will miss you but I know heaven gained a beautiful angel cause you were beautiful inside and out . Love you mom always Ferra

As a nurse, Verna showed her patients the love of Christ. She was a faithful, devoted leader in her church. May God bless and comfort all of her loved ones.
