2025ObituariesJerry A. Jennings

May 9, 2025by SealeUser8

Jerry A. Jennings passed away May 3, 2025, at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge. His wife, children and grandchildren surrounded him with love from the time he became sick until his death. Jerry was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on January 4, 1958,  and was a resident of Denham Springs. Jerry had a love like no other for God, his family and friends. He was an avid LSU fan and bled purple and gold.  His favorite thing in life was spending time with his family, whether it was vacations, crawfish boils or any get together at home.  He had a passion for building homes and enjoyed helping his family and friends.  He was a giver that never expected anything in return.

When we tell you he fought the fight….we are not exaggerating.  He fought to the very end when Jesus called him home. II Timothy 4:7-8

Jerry made friends wherever he went.  He met a special friend/bonus daughter at Golden Age Nursing home. Carmen Sanders came home with us and sat with him until the end.  He felt her love and she DID NOT cut him any slack working out.  He also made a special friend at OLOL Gabriel Johnson, who will always be our family.  Last, but not least, Richard Gauthreaux turned into his best buddy at Golden Age.  We have adopted him as our family also.  Even at the end, Jerry gave us a bonus family.  Special thanks to the City of Denham Springs co-workers/friends for their prayers, love and fellowship during our time of need and beyond.

Our eternal gratitude goes out to Golden Age Nursing home and The Carpenter House for caring for him like he was their family.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Jennings; father-in-law, Alto Herring; children-not in order of favorite child-family joke!!!  Daughter, Lynette Jennings Kimble, spouse Jeremy Kimble, Sons, Jerry Jennings Jr., spouse Missy Jennings, and Logan Jennings, Blake Jennings, spouse Kelly Jennings. Grand Children, Victoria Kimble, Olivia Kimble, Angelina Jennings and Jadah McClelland. Bonus Grandchildren- Brayton Bonin, Emerson Guillot, and Michael Bonin. Brother, Michael Shannon Jennings. Adopted Family-Jeff, Candis, Kaden and Asher Valentine-Tigers rule, love papaw Jerry!

Preceded in death by his father EA Jennings, mother Rita Nell Jennings, his beloved twin brother Terry Jennings, sister-in-law Beth Jennings, nephew Steven James Jennings, mother-in-law Christine Herring, numerous aunts, uncles and friends.

A private family celebration of life will be held, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Jerry would love for you to adopt a family you know of that is in need.  Whether it is a free service you can provide, a trip to the doctor or just being their friend. Just a thought… but maybe consider adopting a friend at the nursing home.

I went into a Navy career in 1977 so I never got to see Jerry and Terry after high school, but I had tremendous respect for those two powerhouses while in school. They were friendly, studious and were a dominant pair on the football field. We do not weep as those without Hope, and our sad goodbyes will soon turn into a sweet Hello!
