2025ObituariesDouglass Wayne McCasland, Sr.

June 24, 2025by SealeUser1

Douglass Wayne “Doug” McCasland Sr., 69, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, went home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2025, at MD Anderson Cancer Center, surrounded by his family, after a brave and faithful battle with cancer.

Born in Atlanta, Texas, Doug lived a life that was steady, honorable, and full of grace. He was the kind of man who never changed—calm in the storm, true to his word, and grounded in his faith. He never missed a chance to talk about the Lord, and his quiet strength made people trust him instantly. You didn’t just respect Doug—you looked up to him. He was a mentor, a leader, a constant. And to so many, he was one of the greatest men they had ever known.

He was funny, serious, and sincere. A rule-follower with a soft spot for his grandkids. A man who led with love, even when he didn’t say much. He was a husband, father, Pawpaw, brother, uncle, and friend—and he wore every one of those titles with pride.

Doug is survived by his wife of 40 years, Monica Babin McCasland; his children: Douglass McCasland Jr. (Ashley), Cody Thompson (Katie), Brittany Knapp, and Jarret McCasland; his sister, Debbie McCasland LeBlanc; and his grandchildren: Caden, Makenzie, Trinity, and Elijah McCasland; Kennedi and Coleman Thompson; Elliotte Monroe and Asher Knapp. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews who adored him, countless friends who admired him, and his two loyal dogs, Charlee and Stella, who miss him dearly.

Doug proudly served as a medic in the United States Air Force. He later became a respected QC inspector and longtime boss—leading with integrity and earning the loyalty of those who worked with him.

He enjoyed life’s simple joys: crawfishing, cooking, hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR, and being surrounded by the people he loved. But more than anything, he lived to serve God and take care of his family. He worshipped faithfully at Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge and carried that faith into every part of his life—even through his illness. His greatest fight wasn’t just with cancer, but for justice for his son Jarret, and for the salvation and strength of his family. He never stopped fighting—never stopped believing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Louise McCasland, and his sister, Marilyn Penalber.

We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the impact he left behind. He was one of a kind—and he was ours. The family wishes to thank the team at MD Anderson Cancer Center for their compassionate care, and Performance  Contractors for their support throughout Doug’s battle.

Pallbearers: Jordan Coxe, Jordan Courtney, Jonathan Gautreaux, Justin Gautreaux, Aaron Penalber, Sean Templet.

Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, Monday, June 30, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., followed by burial at Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary with Air Force Honors. Please share your condolences at www.sealefuneral.com.
