Jared Neal Johnson, 34, a resident of Zachary, LA, died on Friday, April 30, 2021. He is survived by his mother, Terri Breland Johnson; his grandmother, Margaret Ann Johnson; two sisters, Jenifer Leanne Johnson and Jill Danielle Johnson; niece, Nalana Destin Coates; nephew Collin Patrick Coates; uncles, aunts and cousins; and by his girlfriend Hope Andrews and her son Corbin Stewart. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Neal Johnson; his sister Amanda Danielle Johnson; his grandfather Rudolph Hollis Johnson; grandfather Silas Breland; and grandmother Norma Foster Breland. Pallbearers will be Jacob Barksdale, Blake Barksdale, Tyler Barksdale, Jeff Deville, Daniel Carlton, Niki Wyrick, Ryan DiBenedetto, Brandon Todd Boudreaux, Max Duncan, and Ryan Thompson. Funeral and burial service will be by his uncle, Todd Breland under the direction of Seale Funeral Home at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Baker, Louisiana on Tuesday, May 4th at 9am. I’m not sure what made me think of Jared all these years, but to find his name and face in an obituary is the last thing I thought I would find. Jared and I went back to Elementary school and 39th street park in Zachary, LA. We played baseball and along with another good friend Mitchell Boyd, we’re inseparable for a while. Our relationship definitely had its rough times and swayed from friendly to outright belligerent. Of course, we were kids and I never understood just what we were so bothered about; just ego I suppose- A kind of rivalry between competitive spirits. I remember many good times with him though and that there was a tenderness about Jared and I was blessed to see that part of him and call him my friend. I like to remember him that way and playing baseball (he was a formidable athlete), rounding second base with that suppressed grin on his face. He had a good heart at bottom, but he seemed to always be wrestling with something. His death has touched me and I send my deepest sympathies to my old friends family. May the good Lord cover him in joy and peace.
