September 4, 1969 ~ August 14, 2021

Edward Dean Strickland, surrounded by his two devoted children and his closest family, went to be with the Lord on August 14th at 4:55pm. “Dean” was 51 years old and a lifelong resident of Greenwell Springs, LA. He was a self-employed hot shot driver who had previously been employed with AAA Rent-All for over 25 years. Dean was a big-hearted, fun-loving, hard-working man, a jack of all trades who was a friend to everyone. He loved the outdoors, camping, 4-wheeling, boat-riding, long soaks in the pool, good cooking & good music, all while surrounded by as many friends, kids & dogs that could tag along. He has left big footprints in every life he walked through & a big hole in the heart of everyone who loved him. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward & Blossom Dean of Baton Rouge & Clayton & Grace Strickland of Greensburg; parents Clovis & Dolores Strickland of Greenwell Springs; brother Larry Strickland of Greenwell Springs; nephew A.J. Lowrey of Watson & his former wife, with whom he remained close, Stephanie Strickland. He is survived by his two children, his absolute pride & joy, Karlie “Bea” Strickland (21y.o.) and Collin “Brother” Strickland (20y.o.) of Greenwell Springs, his sister Elizabeth Collins (David Collins) & numerous nieces and nephews that he dearly loved. A memorial celebration is planned for Sat. Sept. 4th, which would also be his 52nd birthday.

We always loved seeing him riding in his golf cart with his dogs. He was always so happy and sure to give a wave and smile. He will be missed dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

I’m so grateful I got meet him even if it was for only a short time. I will keep his family in my prayers in the coming days. He really was a light in this world.
