“Sir” Edward Anthony Gettys Jr. “Daddy, Eddie, “Eddieward,” and Uncle Eddie”
May 9, 1981-January 22, 2022
My Eddie was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, son- in-law, brother-in-law, coach, and friend. He went to be with Jesus on January 22, 2022 at 1:00 a.m. after a long fight. He gave it his all to the very end; he was 40 years old. About two years ago, Eddie felt that he would not make it to the age of 40, but he did! God had been preparing him for this time. He loved and lived for his family, his love for coaching, movies, his hats, and camping. He will forever be My Eddie and forever love. Eddie leaves behind his Grace (Hannah Gettys, his wife), his four hearts: Caden Alder, Ryan Grace, Kynleigh Ann and Nella Bean. As well as his precious mother, Patricia Gettys, loving father, Edward Gettys Sr., his triplet sisters, Tammy (David) Dodd, and Danielle Gettys, his oldest sister Dawn (Cary) Degelos, his baby sister Brandi Resendez, and his lifelong best friend “brother” Gabriel Lebeau and lifelong best friend “sister” Sheri Harris. His loving wife’s family: parents, Rod and Kathy LeJeune, siblings, Tierney (Sam) Aguillard, Julie (Frankie) Thibodeaux and William (Bethany) LeJeune and our son’s mother, Stephanie Ryals. He was the best and loving Uncle to Alexis, Hannah, Allie, Alivia, Beau, Payton, Dash, Athen, Abram, Franki Dru, Isaac, Lucy, Solomon, and Raegan Layne. Eddie was loved by so many and he leaves behind a very large and loving Italian family of Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. As well as many young men that he coached throughout the years who loved and respected him. He is preceded in death and welcomed with loving arms by Paw Paw Pete, Grandma Josie, Aunt Cheryl, Uncle Brother, Hope, Uncle Danny, Papa Edward, Maw Doris, Aunt Kathy, Uncle Bill, Michael, Little Bill, and his Paran Mikie Leblanc “who was ready to go fishing.”
Thanks to all who have supported, cared, loved, and taken care of My Eddie for all of these months. We couldn’t have done it without you. Once his memorial celebration has been arranged, it will be shared with you all.

I’m so sorry to hear about your passing. We had so much fun in high school. You always were driving all of us around the parish and hanging out after the football games on Friday nights. And then hanging out at your sisters’ apartment in college. My memories of you will live on forever!

Eddie, you will be missed so much! Right before you went into the hospital for the first time, we spoke for the first time since high school. Never should it take that long to reconnect, but we all moved away years back. There was never a person you weren’t friends with! You always had a smile on your face, life of the party, but most importantly you were always the protector of your sisters. My deepest condolences to your wife and kids, your family, and your closest friends. May you rest in Heaven!

My Sweet Eddie Gettys!! How tremendous of a loss in society this is. You were always the life of the party and such a sweet, generous soul. It is so unfair for us to have lost you at such a young age but such a blessing to have know you! There were so many nights out and just being careless young adults with no worries! I remember the first night you met Hannah and how you were so love struck. We knew you guys were soulmates and would be together until the end of time, just never imagine it would be now. We were such close friends in college and life sent us our separate ways but it was such a joy to dance the night away with you every Fourth of July! I’ll just have to win the next BINGO in your honor! You will be so greatly missed!
