I remember you, as a smile.
As white teeth , and lips curled back in a minacial grin. That smile that could push back dark clouds and negative thoughts swirling through my own head like a galewind. We never gave voice to the emptiness inside us. We made fun of ourselves and enjoyed the company of a soul that was as bent and tilted as our own, and built our castles of cigarette ashes .
As long as there is breath in my lungs , I will remember you, I will love you and keep your smile imprinted on my heart.
I am grateful to have been able to call you my brother not by blood, but by choice . I owe a great deal of who I am today to your influence. To your smile.
