So sorry I didn’t get a notification. I just shared a pint of strawberry ice cream with him at Harvest in April. I hoped C. J. or Tony would have called me since I was in his contact. I knew Joe and entire family since 1962 on Topeka Street. We stayed in touch and teased about having same birthday for which I still sent cards. I’ll miss my sweet friend and every dance we shared at CYO and Redemptorist. Rest In Peace.

Condolences to each family member. He and his family will be in our prayers.
Joe and I spent many hours in a bass boat. Some really good trips and some no so good trips but all enjoyable trips. A. J. Scardina

Mr. Joe was a part of my life quite literally from the moment I was born. He always reminded me that he was there that day, awaiting my arrival into the world to celebrate with my parents. He was at every holiday that we celebrated as I was growing up, there on Saturday mornings to go fishing with my Dad, there at Sunday lunch. I watched him stand by my Dad as he lost both his parents, and then help them make a cross country move, driving their dogs and my Dads pickup. He never passed a stranger or a garage sale. I am thankful to him for his friendship with my Dad all the years they knew each other, and he will be missed so terribly by our family. We love you, Mr. Joe.

Joe was a special kind of guy. Most men would have been bitter after an accident like Joe had but he still had a sense of humor.
As a fellow member of the “Hassle Free Bass Club” I never had the opportunity to partner with Joe. Him and AJ Scardina fished together a lot. I remember one specific tournament they fished together and passed up the landing at Adams on the way to weigh in. We later learned they had had a six pack with them: a six pack of bananas. RIP Joe!

During our careers at Exxon, Joe and I had numerous interesting conversations. Sorry to see him go. Praying for the Family, that the Lord will give them the strength to get through this sad time in their loss of Joe. JE Smith

Joe Messina, will truly be missed by everyone that knew him and that’s a bunch of people. I especially loved his wit. You didn’t always know if he was serious or “putting you on”. I never forget when he was burned, it was on my watch. Joe was a friend, fishing confidant, and a model of courage few posses. One just felt good after talking to him. RIP Joe, God has a place for you.

Joe will be missed by many! He was a great friend, more like a brother, for close to 50 years. Out families have celebrated births, holidays, and many other special occasions as well as health challenges over those many years. I will cherish the good times we spent together and look forward to meeting him again on that great bass fishing lake in the sky. God Bless you my dear friend…miss you terribly!!!
