Obituary for Dr. David C. Thibodeaux, M.D.
David C. Thibodeaux was born on October 29, 1926 in Baker, LA. He graduated from Central High School. After enlisting in the US Navy, he served in the Pacific theatre at Okinawa, Japan. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home to attend LSU. One semester from a degree in engineering, he entered LSU Medical School. After graduation, he practiced general medicine in Denham Springs for 12 years. In 1966, he enrolled at Emory University in Atlanta, GA in a radiology residency. Upon completion of his residency, he joined Radiology Associates in Marietta, GA. He became one of the first five board certified Nuclear Medicine Radiologist in the country. He retired in 1993. David was a lifelong member of the Baptist church. Most recently, he was a founding member of Watson Baptist Church. He had a passion for gardening, landscaping and travel. He passed on February 7, 2019. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Albert “Bates” and Kate Thibodeaux, brothers, sister and his wife, Barbara Shilling Thibodeaux. He is survived by his daughters, Suzanne (Carey), Lynette; sons, Bill (Hope), and Rusty (Marion); grandchildren, Jenny, Lindsay, Danielle, Berit, Douglas, Ashley, David, Kayla and great grandchildren, Bella, Hudson, Riker, and Jemma, his brother-in-law, Leroy Shilling (Darlene), nieces and nephew, and caregivers Lela Clayton and Thomas Benton. A graveside service will be held at LA National Cemetery in Zachary, LA on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Wounded Warriors or the charity of your choice.
