Ellis, Edward

July 15, 1954 – January 17, 2021

On January 17, 2021, Edward Paul Ellis, caring husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away at the age of sixty-six. Paul, as he was known to most was born on July 15, 1954, in Opelousas, LA to Bennie and Henry (Jr) Ellis. He worked for Dupre Transport for thirty-six years and just recently retired. He married Brinda on May 22, 1991. They raised seven children. Five sons and two daughters together. Paul had a passion for fishing, camping, riding his motorcycle and riding horses. He enjoyed working on vehicles and building cabinetry. He had so much knowledge that he was always willing to share. He loved spending time with his family and planning for future vacations with his wife, sister (Wanda) and brother in law (Randy). He was known for his gentle bullying of the people he loved the most. Even when he was picking on family and friends, everyone knew where they stood with him and that he would do anything to help anyone at any time. Paul was preceded in death by his Father, Henry (JR), and his mother, Bennie. Also, two of his siblings Charles Wayne Ellis and Glenda Downs. He is survived by his wife, Brinda Ryder Ellis, his seven children and their spouses; Michael (Tracy), Travis (Suzette), Paul Jr. (Deanne), Chris (Maggie), Ashley (Jeremy), Kimberly (Nick) and Joshua (Dystiny). He is also survived by his nine remaining siblings and their spouses, Wanda & Randy Lanclos, Brenda Johnson, Norma Jean & Jeff Broussard, Glenn ”Doc” Ellis, Jimmy & Julie Ellis, Billy & Debbie Ellis, Leroy & Jami Ellis, John Lee & Jodi Ellis, Nolan Wayne & Terrie Ellis. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and his favorites of all, his 23 Grandkids and 1 Great Grandchild. Thank you to all the Doctors and nurses at Our Lady of the Lake hospital in Baton Rouge, LA, for all they did to help and be with him over his last days. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, between 1-4 pm at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs, Louisiana.

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I leave my condolences. You were a wonderful man and a great uncle. You were always so willing to give up your free time to help those of us in need no matter the day or time. Your kindness, generosity and love will live on through each and every one of us that hold your memory close to our hearts. You are and always will be loved. May you find peace and comfort in your new home in Heaven and watch over your family to provide them strength for the days to come.

“A family is a circle of love, not broken by a loss, but made stronger by the memories. We are forever blessed that God connected us to you.”

    With Love,

Thank you for you’re selfish love that she gave to me and my children. There’s not a day that goes by that we won’t think of you. Thank you for being an amazing poawpaw to my children. I will think of you each and every time I fix plates LOL only you know what that means. Thank you for taking me in at such a young age and loving me unconditionally you will never be forgotten. Rest easy. Tell my mom hi and I love her. Until we meet again
