May 18, 1926 ~ February 14, 2021
Mary Nezona Cotton Stanley went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ on Sunday, February 14, 2021 while a resident at Grace Nursing
Home in Slaughter, Louisiana.  She was born in Watson, Louisiana on May
18, 1926 and graduated from Live Oak High School. She took great pride
in her work as a legal secretary.
Mary was ninety-four years young and the matriarch of our family.  She
was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Mary was a kind and strong woman of immense faith, which she applied
gracefully and with humility in her daily life.  She dearly loved, and
was dearly loved by, her family, friends, co-workers, and by all who
knew her.  She will be greatly missed.
Mary is survived by her son, David E. Stanley and his wife Debra Menzie
Stanley, four grandchildren, Jack Brandon Stanley and his wife Elizabeth
Sigafoose Stanley, Kristian Elise Friley and her husband Ryan Matthew
Friley, Chase Alexander Stanley and his wife Jacqueline Holtz Stanley,
and Lauren Mikel Stanley and her long-time boyfriend Sean Patrick Creel.
She is also survived by four great grandchildren, Ainsley Grace Ewing,
John Davis Friley, Jack Alexander Friley, and Isabelle Kate Friley.
Mary is also survived by her sister, Elma Lea Cotton Hood.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Felix E. Stanley, her
parents, Jesse T. Cotton and Sadie Mack Cotton, four sisters, Viola
Cotton Lambert, Marie Cotton Stewart, Margaret Cotton Harrison, and Lola
Cotton Edwards, and her brother, Jesse Thomas Cotton, Jr.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff
at Grace Nursing Home, the doctors, nurses and staff at Baton Rouge
General Hospital on Bluebonnet, and the nurses and staff of the Hospice
of Baton Rouge for the loving care that they provided to her at the end
of her life.  Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there will not be a
public wake, funeral service or graveside service.  The family may hold
a memorial service at a later date.  The family appreciates your
understanding and your continued prayers.
