July 23, 1941 ~ March 21, 2021

Linda Joyce Byrd Comeaux, 79, peacefully passed from this world and entered into the arms of Jesus on March 21, 2021. She was surrounded by family at her home in Denham Springs. Linda was born July 23, 1941, to Roscoe and Alma Butler Byrd. She was a native of Lake Providence, LA., and lived there until her family moved to Denham Springs, LA., during her elementary school years. She married her elementary school sweetheart, Charles Wayne Comeaux, on December 24, 1958. They were married for almost 54 years at the time of his passing in November 2012. She graduated from the Denham Springs Beauty College and was a hairdresser until her children were born. Then, she took great joy in being a full time mom while her children were young. Later she worked as an auditor at Dillard’s Department Store and then as a clerk in the Tax Division at the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, from which she retired. After retirement, she enjoyed fishing with Wayne from the deck of their houseboat on Belle River. Known to her grandchildren as “Nee Nee”, she enjoyed making memories with each of them which usually involved making something in her kitchen. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. She is survived by two daughters, Monica Martin (Louis) and Sandy Trahan (John); three grandchildren, Ashley Langlois (James), Christopher Martin and Kelsey Martin; one great grandson, Aiden Quinn; and one sister, Debra Milam. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Delton “Bud” Byrd, Felton “Flip” Byrd, and an infant brother, Welton Byrd, and a sister, Louise Dardenne. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the team of loving caregivers at Halo Companion Care for their care during her last year, along with the very caring staff of Heart of Hospice – Nurse Lara, Social Worker Robbin, and Chaplain Carla. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, Tuesday, March 23, from 12 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be John Trahan, Aiden Quinn, Louis Martin, Jr., and Christopher Martin. In consideration of Covid, the family understands if you are unable to attend. I remember Linda and Wayne fondly from their days on Belle River. They bought the barge on which their houseboat was built from my father, Lew Cazes, then docked it on the river next to my dad’s camp. I remember them both with smiles on their faces always. I am sorry for your loss.
