May 2, 1953 ~ May 2, 2021
Marietta, was born on May 2, 1953 in Clinton, Louisiana. She lived a life full of love and devotion to the people she loved and the things she did. She worked for many years as an accounting supervisor at Earl K. Long/LSU Medical Center, and then stepped into retirement where she was able to enjoy her family and fur babies. She enjoyed being outdoors tending to her gardens, attending all the events of her grandchildren, going to the beach, going on cruises, and going out to dinner with family and friends. Despite her hard-fought battle against cancer, Marietta continued to display her strong spirit and love of her family and friends. She was deeply loved and will always be missed. Marietta is survived by her sons and their wives: Jay and Michelle Parrish, Steven and Tanya Parrish, and Ashley and Sue Ellen Parrish, and step-sons and their wives: Ricky and Brandi Watkins, and Donnie and Cheryl Watkins, along with all her beloved grandchildren: Noah, Drake, Kloe, Riley, Jonah, Leslie, Matthew, Devon, Nicholas, Haynes, Ronnie, Baylen, McKenzie, and Kayleigh. She is also survived by her brothers: Jimmy and his wife Marcie, Alvin, and David Bryant; sister-in-law Joanna Gaines, aunt Katie Hutchinson, and cousin Clovia Bunch, along with all of her nieces and nephews. Marietta is preceded in death by her parents James and Ruby Bryant, and her beloved husband James Watkins. A special thank you is extended to all those not listed who lovingly touched her life and helped care for her. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, Thursday, May 6, from 4 p.m. until service at 6 p.m. Please share your condolences at www.sealefuneral.com.

I worked with Marietta at EKL When we first met, she wouldn’t say very much. Through a mutual coworker, Rita F., I got to know her better. After finding out that we had a love of animals in common, we all became good friends and kept in touch after EKL closed. My last conversation with her was in December of 2020. She was scared but hopeful. She wanted to get together with us at her house. She said she would let us know when that could happen because she had MD Anderson appointments. Unfortunately, it never did. I just found out about her death. To family members, Marietta was a wonderful friend who shared a love of animals that few can understand. Y’all will be in me prayers.

I’m sorry to learn of the loss of your Mother. Monday will be the second anniversary of the death of my youngest brother,Marshall – also from cancer. My favorite memory of Marietta is get feeding the cats when we worked in the old hotel. I never expected to outlive Marshall. Stay close to each other.
