Prentis William Jones passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at his home in Denham Springs at the age of 76.

Prentis passed away two days shy of his 77th birthday. He married his high school sweetheart, Violet Sutcliffe, in 1962. They just celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary in June.

Prentis loved building motorcycles, restoring antique cars, and woodworking. He looked forward to going to Cruising the Coast and on the Power Tour every year in his 1957 Ford Fairlane and on the Trail of Tears bike ride. Prentis retired from Local 406 which he joined in 1968. He was an Operating Engineer. He was the best there was when it came to running a backhoe. He won many Backhoe Rodeos.

Prentis is survived by his loving wife, Violet Sutcliffe Jones, Daughter, Sheila Montgomery and boyfriend, Vincent LeJeune, Son, Phillip Jones and wife Sherry, Grandsons, Keith Montgomery (Paige Minton), and Ryan Jones, Granddaughter Jessica Jones, great granddaughters, Pharrah Jones, Karlie, Gracie, Aubrey and Karlie and great grandson, Colton

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pierce and Daisy May Jones, brothers, JL and Marvin Jones, Sisters, Inez Williams, Jessie Loupe, and Marie Guidry and son in law, Allen Montgomery.

Dementia is a terrible disease. We will be lost here without him, but he is no longer suffering. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs, Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 9:00 AM until religious services at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel conducted by Pastor Paul Taylor. Burial will follow at Felder’s Cemetery in Denham Springs. Please sign our online registry book.

Phillp , Sherry and family. I am sorry for your loss.
Lord… Bless those who mourn, eternal God,
with the comfort of your love
that they may face each new day with hope
and the certainty that nothing can destroy
the good that has been given.

    May their memories become joyful,
    their days enriched with friendship,
and their lives encircled by your love.
