Booty, I am so sorry to hear about this, I’m in total shock. I’m living in Las Vegas now, nobody told me about this. I just found out today. Marvin was a great person, and a very hard worker. He turned his life around completely, for the best. It doesn’t even sound real. He will be missed by many.

Marvin and my families are connected by blood here on earth but a closer connection because of Jesus Christ.

My mother was only 3 years old when her mother died in 1918 from the Spanish flu. Four of the Six Will and Theresa’s Hughes children went to live with Marvin’s maternal grandmother who was Will’s younger sister. Her name was Marsh. She was still single at the time and living with her mother and my mothers grandmother. Aunt Marsh was tough. She married later and Marvin’s dad J.V. was her son.

The last time Marvin and I spoke to he recounted to me when he was saved. He said he went to church to please his parents with no thought of coming to the Lord but God had other plans. That night Marvin’s life changed when he gave his life to Christ.

Some may remember that Marvin was an excellent pool shooter and made money beating many guys who were good But when he got saved he became a new man. I know he never again played pool for money. The people who knew him saw this dramatic change.
Marvin became a new creation. He was a bold follower of Jesus Christ.

Marvin and Booty are members of the Gideon Camp in Denham Springs where I serve too. I will be giving Bibles in Honor of Marvin’s Home Going as will other members of our camp. Marvin’s witness will live on and others may come to Christ because of these Bibles which will be given in his name.

The world is a better place because Marvin Efferson lived among us.

Jim and I will miss Marvin, but, at the same time, we celebrate his Homegoing to Heaven! We remember the day Marvin gave his life to Jesus and, from that day forward, became a bold witness for his Lord and Savior! Our love and prayers are with you, Booty, Keisha, Donnie, Jenna and the grands.

ND is sending many hugs to Marvin’s family at this time, we were devastated to hear the news of Marvin’s passing. It was such a great time every year Marvin and Booty would come to visit and stay with us, sharing and telling many great stories and sharing the fun and laughter together. Marvin was quite the character. Those memories shall be cherished and remembered for many years.
Booty, we are sending virtual hugs to you and your family at this time, please reach and let us know if you need anything.
Cherish all the memories made with Marvin and everyone he came in contact with as this is something to be hold dearly and cherish forever.
    He will be greatly missed.

To a gentleman Christian cousin friend and mentor who had so much influence on every member of my family. All my boys learned something about a”Trees and Christ” from this wonderful man. He told us all that no matter our past or faults God always loved us. Without Marvin I wouldn’t have found my true friend Booty whom I treasure. Our hearts our minds and our souls ask that you find ” the peace that passes all understanding” So today I say” I ll call you Marvin” now you are sitting with our Maker and he ll tell you “You did good”. In Jesus name we love you. God Bless Bootie and the girls

Heaven gained a wonderful man. Marvin had a heart of gold hidden in a gruff exterior. We will always remember his kindness to Andy, and all the years he worked with little kids at FBC Livingston. Now he is united with Mr. JV and his Mom. Love and prayers for Booty, Keisha, Donnie, Jenna, and the kids.
