Charles D. (Chuck) Ott, Sr.

“There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. Yet that will be the beginning. “-Louis L’Amour

Chuck has always been Consistent, Steadfast, Principled and Fair. Chuck was born May 17, 1949 to Charles D. and Birdie F. Ott, who have preceded him in death. He was a son, brother, husband, soldier, welder, father, uncle and grandfather. He enjoyed the outdoors, tending animals to include raising, showing and judging Louisiana Catahoula dogs. Chuck was a member of Northside Baptist Church since 1975 where he served as an active Deacon. He retired from Exxon Chemical plant after 35 years. He served and ministered in numerous Christian organizations during his life, to include ELBA and The Gideons International. Chuck had a servant-leader heart and this was displayed in his belief that the people are the church and we should be committed in service and love. Chuck is survived by his wife of 51 years, June Strickland Ott; sister Jean Roberts and husband Phillip, brother Daniel W. Ott, sons Charles D. and wife Angela, Chad W. and wife Megan, daughter Kristy Gremillion and husband Damon, grandchildren Mallory and Brooklyn Ott, Ian and Jaclyn Jones.

5 For I may be absent in body, but I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see how well ordered you are and the strength of your faith in Christ. 6 So then, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in him 7 being rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing with gratitude. Colossians 2:5-7

Visitation will be held at Northside Baptist Church, Denham Springs, LA, Friday, August 27, from 3 p.m. until service at 6 p.m. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 28, at Ott Cemetery, Mr. Hermon, LA, at 11 a.m.

Donations in-lieu of flowers to: Gideon’s International, PO Box 1495, Denham Springs, LA 70727. Please share your condolence at www.sealefuneral.com.

    Mrs. June and family,
You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Bro. Chuck has touched so many lives. I will always cherish our little talks on Sunday mornings before Sunday School. He was truly a man that lead by example. And he will be missed by many.
God bless you and your family with peace and comfort during this time.
    Much love,
    David and Barbara Carawan

No words can express the felling of regret we have for the Ott family. Bro. Chuck is and will continue to be missed in the days, months and years to come. However, we all know that he will be there at the gate of heaven to help greet us with that smirk on his face that we all love and respect.
June, we know that you will miss him but the next entrance of this faze of your life will be full of the wonderful service you continue to give to the Lords people and church.
Just remember we all love you and are praying for you. If you need us we are only a phone call away. You are not along unless you want to be.
Your in Christ; Preacher and Edith McCon

You do not know me Mr. Chuck.. but your love for the Catahoula started my passion. I have P-Rod babies. I used to drive by and see you sitting on your golf cart in front of your garden. I regret I never stopped. Sometimes you would wave at me, just like you knew me. Heaven is a brighter place with you there.

I am so sorry for the loss of Mr. Chuck. I was Ms June’s nurse for her infusions at home. Both of them made me part of the family. Mr. Chuck was a gentle giant who was kind and loved life and family as well as God. He is no longer in pain and suffering. His soul will resonate with his family. A Special Guardian Angel he now is. Rest peacefully my friend.

Chuck was a distant cousin and a mentor to me in the Gideons. He was a kind person and generous with his time. Chuck was a Mighty Man of God that served His master well with his time, energy and devotion. He organized a lot and had a sense of humor. I sure am going to miss Chuck!

Chuck has beat us to the feet of Jesus. He is a friend, a fellow-servant of the Lord Jesus Christ who loved God, his family, church, and sharing his faith in Christ with others through the ministry of the Gideons. May God surround his wife and family during these days

    June,
My sister Sharon texted me of Chuck’s passing. It’s been years since i have been home and many more since i saw you guys. I remember the many summers our family spent at Aunt Birdy’s. We all would sit on the pouch and eat home made Ice Cream. Going down to the creek swimming and all. It was always Chuck, Jean and Daniel and the(Simmon’s kids) Sharon, Kevin, Robin , Kenneth and David. We can all be great-full for Chuck’s love for Jesus Christ. My thought and prayers are with you and your family. My God keep you and guide you through this journey. Please accept my condolence.
    Yours truly,
