Jacob ‘Jacoby’ Mapes, husband, father, son and friend to all passed away September 5, 2021 in Walker, LA at the age of 25 years old.
He was born June 21, 1996 in Baton Rouge, LA to parents Harold “Hal” and Carrie Mapes of Walker, LA. Jacob was a lover of music from beginning to end. He was a talented musician and enjoyed playing many instruments including the drums, piano, and guitar.
Jacob graduated from Walker High School, where he played in the school band, and studied Botany at Southeastern Louisiana University. He will be remembered for his creativity and love of poetry, tattoo artistry, gardening, cooking, and spending cherished time at the park with his family. His sense of humor and creative traits will live on and can be seen in his lovely daughter.
Jacob was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Mr. Lennis & Mrs. Kathleen Ash- ford, and his paternal grandfather, Mr. Lou Bernard.
He is survived by his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Theresa Bernard of Denham Springs, LA; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mapes; and sister, Reanna Bernard of Walker, LA.
His spirit will be kept alive by his wife of two years, Kalysa Vallee Mapes, and their daughter Cymbelina D. Mapes of Holden, LA.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dome of Abundant Life Church in Denham Springs, La. A reception will be held after the service.

    My deepest condolences to Mr. Harold and Mrs Carrie and family. May God wrap His love around you and give you comfort. To his amazing wife, Kalysa and wonderful daugher, Cymbelina, Jacob was everything. May your future be comforted and blessed with God’s Love and protection as you move forward and hold his memory close to your heart.

    I am terribly sorry for your loss. I remember meeting him when he came to MD to visit the Ashfords. He is gone too soon.
