ObituariesRobert “Robbie” H. Harrison, Jr.

October 29, 2021by SealeUser47

February 7, 1962 ~ October 28, 2021

Robert Howard Harrison Jr. was born Feb 7 1962 to Robert Sr. and Margaret Cotton Harrison. He was a life-long resident of Watson, Louisiana. Growing up he raised cattle on the family farm off Highway 16 and used to show them with 4-H at the Livingston Parish Fair. He was a graduate of Live Oak High School Class of 1980. He attended LSU for his undergraduate, which he paid for by working as a Dispatch Deputy for the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office. He graduated LSU Law School in 1987, and afterwards chose to practice civil law. He represented the people of Livingston Parish, opening his own law firm in 1992 to ensure that the residents of his hometown had access to legal services. Robbie married his sweetheart and best friend, Jo Ann Summers, on June 4th 1983. Together they had three boys, Dewitt Tyler, Matthew Joseph, and Joel Robert Harrison. He had one grandson, Silas Michael Harrison, and a granddaughter on the way. Robbie dedicated his life to serving his hometown and community of Watson. He was involved with The Boy Scouts of America, serving as a Den Leader, Pack Master, Scout Master, District Committee Chair, and Woodbadge Staff. During his tenure as Troop 97 Scoutmaster, he had over 40 scouts achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. He was the Voice of the Eagles, announcing the Live Oak High School Football games for over 25 years. He volunteered to coach several little league sports teams through LOSA, including football, basketball, and baseball. Since 2017, he volunteered at Live Oak High School, teaching Introduction to Law Classes. He was a former Sunday School Teacher and Deacon at Amite Baptist Church. Robbie was a big man with an even bigger personality. He never met a stranger and could make friends anywhere he went. He was a southern gentleman through and through, from his manners and treatment of others, down to the way he dressed. He was an excellent cook and loved nothing more than to share a big pot of food with anyone and everyone. He was a lot of things to a lot of people, but he loved nothing more than being a teacher and mentor. He was Mr. Robbie to countless people, and if he could give them one last piece of advice, it would be to remember Rule Number 1: Don’t embarrass Mr. Robbie. Robbie is preceded in death by his parents Robert Howard Harrison Sr. and Margaret Cotton Harrison, and infant brother William Randall Harrison. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Harrison, sisters Pamela Faber and Cindy Ware, his children Dewitt Tyler Harrison, Matthew Joseph Harrison, and Joel Robert Harrison, his Daughters in Law, Shana Harrison and Anna Marie Harrison, and Grandson Silas Michael Harrison. Visitation will be held at Seale2 Funeral Home, Denham Springs, Monday, November 1, from 5pm to 9pm, and will resume Tuesday, November 2 from 8am until service at 10am.

Teresa and family. Sorry to hear about your father’s passing. Sounds like our Daddies were a lot alike: love for law, cooking and family.
Our hearts and prayers are with you, cousin.

    Joann,
I do not even have the words to express my sadness at this news. Robbie was such an awesome man and a good friend. Always there for anyone who needed him. He will be so greatly missed. The only thing bigger than his laugh and smile was his heart and graciousness. You, the boys, and family are in my thoughts and prayers.
    Fly high my friend!

I have never seen an obituary that described anyone as well as Robbie’s. He was an asset to the community, and will be greatly missed.

I remember riding his mom’s, Mrs. Margaret’s, school bus many years ago with Robbie. He was always smiling and friendly. I never heard a cross word from him. Many years later I called his firm to make an appointment. He spent 20 minutes with me on the phone and told me exactly what I needed to do. At the end of our conversation I asked him to send me a bill. He said there was no charge. I argued to no avail. He was truly a giving man.

Your family is in my prayers!

I am so sad to hear this news. I’m going to miss bumping into him around town and just gabbing like we would do. He also took care of legal needs for us whenever we called. We jokingly referred to Robbie as the “Unofficial Mayor of Watson” and when storms or impending disaster was approaching, he was the “Director of the Watson Dept of Homeland Security”. Robbie was just an all around great guy. My deepest sympathy and prayers to Jo Ann, his Sons and Family.

JoAnn we are so very sorry for you and your boys. Mr Robbie meant so much to me and my boys, especially Gage. He called Robbie a Father to the Fatherless and he would definitely know that first hand. He was a true leader and the kindest man. We will cherish our memories of camp outs at Avondale with him. We will miss him dearly.

JoAnne, May grace and peace be with you and all your family in the coming days. He is where he will have many wonderful trails to follow. From an old friend and fellow Scoutmaster and also father of 3 strong Eagle Scouts I always enjoyed his stories and the fellowship of scouting. Sometimes god takes us too soon. God bless .

My heart is sad for you, his family. Robbie was one of our youth leaders at church – that was about 35 years ago. I respected him and thought the world of him – he was fun and admirable. In past years, he was a kind attorney for consulting purposes for me as well. I love both you, Jo Anne, and Robbie. I remember your little guys who no doubt have grown to be fine young men just like their Dad. Many prayers for you and the boys during this time and months/years to come. May God’s promise of peace be yours even now.

I have known Robbie and the Harrison Family for 58 years. He was a born again, baptized, bible believing, spirit filled believer in Jesus Christ. His was honorable, jolly, courageous, and hilarious! He was in love with Joann like a husband should be, did his best in raising his children and loved them is is actions. Like most of us, he was not perfect, but I would have never taken him any other way than the way he was. We called on each other from time to time for iron to iron strengthening, and I am going to miss those long chats. I am so proud to tell the world that he was my friend.
