James “Jimmy” Howard Watkins, Sr., 81, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021, at his home in Denham Springs, LA with his wife at his side. He worked for many years as an electrician before retirement. He served his country in the United States Army. Jimmy loved his dogs and to go fishing. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Joe Ann Hawley Watkins; children and their spouses, Penny Ann and Medhat Elkazaz, James Howard Jr and Beverly Watkins, and Suzanne and Kendall Gerald; grandchildren, Brad, Omar, John, Nikki, Crystal, Terry, and Stephanie; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dot, Gene, Tommy, Gail, Carol, Mark, and Bennie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Monica Schaefer; granddaughter, Nadia Awad; parents, Rogers Watkins and Alyeene Minton Neely; and siblings, Renee and Sissy.     WE had no finer friend than Jimmy. We met during the summer of 1964. Now we
    know the value of a good neighbor and fishing partner.

    I remember Jimmy fondly from my days at the Klea plant in St Gabriel. Your family will be in my prayers.
