January 28, 1970 ~ December 27, 2021

Joel Michael McDaniel, 51 of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021. The youngest of four children, Joel was born on January 28, 1970 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to James Roy and Sandra McDaniel.

Joel grew up in Walker, Louisiana and was an avid fisherman, spending much of his youth with his brothers, sister and father running trotlines on the Amite River from his grandfather’s camp. Joel loved the adventure of life and lived it with all that he had. He had an infectious laugh and smile that made a friend out of strangers. Joel made a career for himself in the automotive glass industry as a shop owner and regional manager of a nationwide glass company. Joel’s work took him across the eastern states from Florida to Raleigh, North Carolina. Joel’s proudest achievement in life, as he would tell anyone who listened, was the birth of his son Michael.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Roy McDaniel. He is survived by his son Michael Aaron McDaniel of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his former wife of 25 years Nora Brecheen, and their children Marc Alton Cantu, Wade Everett Cantu and Courtney Leigh Evelyn Story; his mother, Sandra “Sandy” McDaniel; his sister, Jennifer McDaniel Sivils (Paul); and his brothers, James “Jim” Roy McDaniel Jr. and John Edward McDaniel (Terri); Companion, Judy Rowe.

Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs on Saturday, January 22, 2020 beginning a 9:00 am. Memorial services will be at 11:00 with interment following in Evergreen Memorial Park.

So sad to hear of your passing , Old Buddy. You were one of my first employees, and then you became one of the best windshield glass men in the country, becoming much better than your teacher – you made me very proud!
Did we have our ups and downs? Of course. Cindy and I were so proud of you when you were at the top, and we were sad when you were at your lowest points in life. But you always climbed back up out of the pit, and made us happy to see you soar once again!
But now, all we are left with are our memories and our tears.
We miss you so much, Joel.
I am a better man for having known you.
I am a lesser man to have lost you.
Rest in peace, Brother. There will be a better Day.

Many prayers and hugs to the entire family. Joel was the best boss this girl could ever ask for. I know he will be looking out for all of you even when you think he isn’t.
