Ezra Nelson “Joe” Albin was born January 6, 1932 in Independence, Louisiana, and went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on January 30, 2022 while surrounded by his loving family at his home in Livingston, Louisiana. He was 90 years young.

 

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mavis McMorris Albin; three sons: Joel Albin and wife Lanette, Lorin “Happy” Albin, and Marty Albin and wife Lana; 8 grandchildren: Jacob Albin and wife Monica, Justin Albin, Aaron Albin and wife Alicen, Coy Albin and wife Kristin, Jarrett Albin, Collin Albin and Payton Gold, Hayes Albin, Madeline Albin and finance Hunter Whittington. He was blessed with 8 great grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Lula Hoover Albin, siblings: Ted, Leonce, Amos, Elmer, and Lula Ruth, and daughter-in-law Lisa Leggette Albin.

 

Joe was a graduate of Albany High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southeastern Louisiana University. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean conflict. He taught History at Doyle High School before pursuing a career as a business owner. He served as an Alderman and was the Mayor of Livingston from 1964 to 1968. Joe was a very devout Christian, a devoted member of Satsuma Baptist Church, and he loved his Men’s Sunday School class. He loved spending time with his family, hunting, History, and chopping his own firewood for the fires he built in his home even in his final days.

 

Visitation will be at Satsuma Baptist Church in Livingston on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 10:00am until funeral services at 1:00pm. Burial will be at Gateway Gardens in Livingston, LA. Pallbearers will be his eight grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be his Sunday School Class, Richard Leggette, David Hoover, Jerry McManus, Ambers Wheat, and Sam Noto.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Satsuma Baptist Church Building Fund.

    I will always remember Mr. Joe as being so kind. It’s hard to see our town without him. He has been a part of Livingston all my life. He will be greatly missed. My prayers are with you all.
