Mary Thackrey Head passed peacefully in her home on Thursday, February 24, 2022 onward to be with her Eternal Father at the age of 78. Mary is survived by her children Gordon (Wanda) Shepherd, Robert (Dorinda) Shepherd, Suzanne Hughes, Robin Bankston, and Elizabeth (Greg) Snee, Randy Head, Ruston Head, grandchildren, Joshua (Nikki) Johnson, Andrew Shepherd, Raven (Bryan) Toler, Robert Christopher (Catherine) Bankston, Miranda Shepherd, Robert (Dawn) Shepherd II, Leila (Shawn) Wolfe, Wesley (Bobbye) Wolfe, Marlena Shepherd, Josef Hughes, Tina Harvey, Alex Minton, Great Grandchildren Haylee Shepherd, Christopher Johnson, Baleigh Adams, Brylee Adams, Adeline Wolfe, Austin Kirst, Logan Wolfe, Jaxon Stephenson, Charlotte Wolfe, Destinee Peterson, Haydn Thompson, Nevaeh Palmer, Alyssa Leblanc, Ryaln Shepherd, Dayln Overman, Justice Overman, JJ Reed, Megan D’Amato (David), Derik D’Amato and one great-great grandson Preston Kohn, Sisters Sharon Benton, Bennie Barkley, Brother Jim Thackrey and the numerous nieces and nephews that adored her, and her best friends Rosie Delaune, Kim Neal, and Janet Hebert. Mary is proceeded in death by her husband Ronald C Head, Parents Orin and Leila Thackrey, Sisters Jean Landram and Janice Thornton, and brother Chuck Thackrey.
Mary was a hair stylist by profession and a member of the Denham Springs Art Council. She enjoyed working in her garden, painting, and spent much of her time bowling with family and friends over the years. She inspired generations of her family and youth in the community to strive for excellence in the sport. However, it could be said she most enjoyed the family rivalry between LSU tigers and the Florida Gators football teams.

Funeral Services to be held at Judson Baptist Church in Walker, LA on Monday, February 28, 2022.
