Peggy Berteau Buquoi, born in Prairieville on August 8, 1935, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at her home in Denham Springs at the age of 86. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Peggy was a graduate of Dutchtown High.
Peggy was a longtime, active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she served in various ministries and as office receptionist. She loved to write poems and had a lifelong passion for fishing.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Gerald N. Buquoi; parents Bentley and Elia Berteau; daughter Paula Gray Austin; son-in-law Stephen Gray; son-in-law Russell Austin; brothers Lurie Berteau and Huey Paul Berteau; and sisters Rita Landry, Mary Brown, Bobbie Gaudin, and Martha Lee Berteau.
Peggy is survived by two of her children and their spouses, Tammy and Terry Jackson, and Mike and Amy Buquoi; her grandchildren, Erin and Patrick Walker, Brian Gray, and Adam Gray; her great-grandchildren, Christopher, Emily, and Luke Walker; her brother and sister-in-law Perry and Agnes Berteau; and brother-in-law Bernard Gaudin.
Pallbearers are Mike Buquoi, T.D. Jackson, Brian Gray, Adam Gray, Patrick Walker, and Glen Gaudin.
The family would like to thank her caregivers Rhonda, Connie, Paullette, Judy, and Alana, and Life Source Hospice.
Visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs from 9:30am to 11:00am with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00am, with the Rev. Matthew Graham, celebrant. Burial will follow at Denham Springs Memorial cemetery.
