Debra Eileen Bass Smith, 56, was born July 3, 1965, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana, she entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 26, 2022, peacefully at her home.

She was a die-hard LSU sports fan and she dedicated her life to her grandson, Kristian, and his many activities. She was a graduate of Denham Springs High School in 1983. She attended Denham Springs Beauty College, was a previous owner of Denham Springs Christian Academy, and was employed at Seale Funeral Home. She attended Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

She is survived by her daughter Stephanie Smith Lawrence and husband Michial, her grandson Kristian, mother Osene Bass, brother John W. Bass Jr., niece Tiffany Sauseda and husband Poncho, mother-in-law Shirley Smith, cousins Wanda Forbes and Staci Lavigne, along with numerous other family members. She is also survived by her sweet puppies, Princess & Bebe.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, C.J. “Jay” Smith, Jr., father John W. Bass Sr., and father in law C.J. “Jerry” Smith, Sr.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kristian Stroud, Michael Lawrence, Poncho Sauseda, Todd LeJuene, Forrest Sibley, Dakota Sibley, David Smith, Tim Chapman, Chad Forbes, and Benjamin Lavigne.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Denham Springs, 27735 LA 16, Denham Springs, LA 70726 from 9:00 AM until religious services at 11:00 AM conducted by Rev. Keith McAllister.

Feel free to honor Debbie by wearing the colors of LSU or animal prints, as we know she would love to be remembered in that way. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Debbie’s name to the American Diabetes Association, or ASPCA Denham Springs Animal Shelter. Please sign our online registry book.

    Im so so sorry to hear this! Debbie was a beautiful person. I worked with her at Seale’s and she was so compassionate.

    Praying for the family. I’m so sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Debbie personally but, I met her online and she was a beautiful light in this world. She was kind, loving and always had good things to say. She posted beautiful words and shared her faith with all. I look forward to meeting you one day when I make it to my heavenly home. ❤️
