William “Bill” Phillips graduated from LSU with an MSW in social work in 1988. He was a clinical social worker for more than 30 years and specialized in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Bill was also interested in Social Psychology and teaching Resilience Skills to children and adolescents. He worked or consulted in many different school systems throughout Louisiana. Bill was currently working as an Expert Witness in every court system in Louisiana and was collaborating on a trailblazing trauma-focused project that was to be a part of the Beat The Streets Non-Profit Organization. Bill also worked as a freelance journalist and his articles appeared in The Saint Bernard Voice, The Houma Courier, Cenla Focus, Cenla Parenting, Politicalswitchborad.com and Offline magazine. He was also a member of the Arabi Wrecking Crew that helped restore homes in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. His big heart and intelligence will be sorely missed by his multitude of friends, patients, co-workers and his sister, Betsy Case of Everett Washington. Mr. Bill was a blessing to everyone that he met. They might now have known it at the time of meeting but they certainly did afterwards. He was always so colorful and animated when speaking to anyone. I smile so much when I think of the many times he was just himself and it brightened everyone’s day. He had a great sense of humor, sometimes more dry than most peoples’, and he never told a story without adding a variation of different curse words that could make a sailor blush! That was our Bill! Always being able to make a situation more bearable with his remarks and silliness. The smartest man I have ever had the absolute pleasure of meeting! I feel like I am a better person just from knowing him! He was a devoted and amazing brother to his older sister. He loved her more than anything in this world and spoke of her so often! I’m glad I was here to be a part of his journey! He never failed to holler for me to assist him with all the technological issues he ever had 🙂
Mr. Bill you will be missed dearly and we are always going to remember you! No one can forget our Mr. Bill!!!
