March 31, 2022by SealeUser6

Joan L. Deats born September 21, 1936, and passed away on March 29, 2022, in her home surrounded by family and friends. The word “and” is so powerful. And…it includes everything from birth to death. Joan had two very full stories to her life. Her first story started out in a farm house in Hampton, New Jersey. In her youth she loved roller skating and getting together with friends to play pinochle, with Bingo being her favorite activity. It was an activity that she would carry into the next chapter of her life. Her new adventure began with an incredible move to the great state of Louisiana. She would become a permanent resident of the city of Denham Springs, LA. Maw Maw Deats as she would become known as, could be found on any given Sunday watching Nascar, following the points value of her favorite drivers, the great Dale Earnhart Sr, and later Tony Stewart. She loved spending time with her family drinking coffee in the early mornings.

Joan is survived by her daughter Sharon Anderson and her Husband John Anderson, her grandson Michael Anderson and his children Ryan Anderson, Maegan Anderson, and Peyton Anderrson, her Grandson Scott Deats and his children, her granddaughter Kelly Anderson and her grandson James Anderson and his wife Amy Anderson and their son Mason Anderson. Joan is also survived by her sister Carolyn J. Cordes from New Jersey.  Joan is preceded in death by her son Leonard Deats, her mother Dorothy Bowers, her father Henry Bowers, her brother Larry Bowers and her sister Joyce Fields. Services will be held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on  Friday April 1, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a funeral service starting at 2:00 PM and burial following in Evergreen Memorial Park. I could’nt ask for a better mother in law. She treated me like I was her daughter since we met.
    My condolences to her family.

Aunt Joanie I will miss you so much. You had the best sense of humor and a huge loving heart. I could never stop cracking up when you and Grammy would banter back and forth. I will cherish all of our memories. Until we meet again. Love always 💖 Heather
