July 26, 1925 ~ April 30, 2022

Harry R. Prather, 96, lived a life well-lived.  He first devoted his life to loving and serving Jesus Christ. Secondly, he gave his heart to Norma Jean Prather, his loving wife of 65 years.  Harry was proceeded in death by sons Lawrence “Larry” A. Prather, Kenneth D. Prather and daughter, Annette Sue Johnson.  Grandson Ronald “Ronnie” Chisholm and great granddaughter Hannah Chisholm also left this world before him.

Harry was a printer by trade, a minister of the Word of God and a gardener in his spare time.  He leaves behind daughters Linda P. Chisholm and Rebecca “Becky” Schenk, her husband Chris, daughter-in-law Susie Prather and son-in-law Bo Johnson.  Grandchildren Paul Prather and wife Karla, Jeremy Prather and wife Katy, Tony Prather, Erica L. Johnson, Suzan Johnson and husband Timothy Velotta, Sarah Schenk, Emily Smith and husband Noah. Great grandchildren Kaitlin Pekuri and husband Aaron, Haley Chisholm, Abigail Prather, Erica Prather and Chase Prather.

For Harry the race is over.  As Paul the apostle said in 2 Timothy 4:7-8, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-. . .”

That verse concludes by saying, “and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”  Harry would be the first to encourage you to know the Lord, to study His word and to give your life to Him.  By living a life devoted to Jesus Christ, you honor God first and you honor the life and legacy of Harry Prather.

Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, Thursday, May 6, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will resumes at the Denham Springs Church of Christ, 118 St. Louis St., Friday May 7, from 10am until Celebration of Life Service at 11am. Burial will follow in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery.
