March 18, 1964 ~ April 8, 2022

Larger than Life and Loyal friend to everyone he met, Charles Wright reunited in eternal rest with his Father Robert Harrison Wright Sr, Mother Margaret Morris Wright, Sister Cynthia Kay Wright and Uncle Paul William Wright on April 8, 2022 at the age of 58.

Charlie was a proud member in good standing with his Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 391.  Charlie worked on over 70 Movie and TV productions in his career that spanned over 30 years.

Charlie’s larger than life personality made him an expert in having fun!!! In fact he coined the phrase “Fun is the Best thing to have”!  He taught us all how to have a good time.

Charlie was born and raised in Charlotte, NC.  He grew up in a neighborhood named Hickory Grove aka The Grove, where he earned his childhood nickname “Cheez” from his childhood friends.  These friends were the very people who helped shape Charlie’s life early on, back in the woods of the Grove at the popular hangout, The Fort. Listening to his favorite rock and roll bands. The memories of these special times will live on in all of The Grover’s.

Later in life Charlie and family moved to the NC coast of Sunset Beach which was one of Charlie’s favorite places.  Boating, golfing, surrounded by family playing games at the Annual Family Olympics were some of Charlie’s greatest times. His infectious laughter proved it.

Charlie is survived by his son Matthew Wright (Jess), grandson Landon Wright, Fiance Alisha Barnum, Brother Robert Wright Jr (Terri), Sister Pam Grady (Jerry), Sister Susan Derby, Nieces and Nephews Jared, Christopher, Trey, Ryan, Courtney, Lindsay, Sarah, Kayden and Maggie, and Former Wife of 28 years Kellye Wright

Ramble On Dad, PawPaw, and friend !!!

Service will be arranged at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, his family asks that any donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

I’m never on Facebook, but today I logged on and was just at a loss for words when I read about Charlie’s passing. I have not seen Charlie in so many years but I remember just how much I just loved this guy. He always made me laugh and just was a good guy. His x wife Kellye and I were good friends and I use to babysit Matthew their son. Kellye and Charlie were such great parents and just adored Matthew. I hate that I have lost contact with Kellye and Charlie. Both great people and I just loved both of them.

Hearing this news has made me look at myself and realize just how short life is, and I need to make more of an effort to get back out there and enjoy every minute that I have left.

To Kelley and Matthew I’m so sorry for your loss and hearing about Charlie’s passing has really opened my eyes. Please know that I’m thinking of you.

Kelley if you read this message, I would love to hear from you. Please call me.

To Charlie’s family I’m so sorry for your loss. What an amazing man he was.

    Sincerely,
    Lori Brown Young

You will be missed, Charlie. The way you walked into a room—you lit up the place, and people knew you were there.

You will be missed, Charlie. Your charisma drew people close to you. That infectious smile and laugh. I remember your laugh.

You will be missed, Charlie. So many memories, through good times and bad times. Cheers to you. I know you are serene.

    You will be missed, Charlie.

Charlie was my life long friend, neighbor and Grover! I’ve known Charlie my whole life. We grew up on same neighborhood street, built the forts and trails, that he spoke of, together, however we lost touch as we both had families and went in our own direction. I remember Charlie well and he was a great friend, GOD BLESS my friend!!

Thank you for the years of working together. Such a great Captain. You will always be remembered for your easy going attitude of “getting it done”

Charlie always made me smile with his Charlieism’s
    He would say Willis…
” If you gonna hoot with the owls, go gotta soar with the eagles”
” I’m going down like 4 flat tires”
“I am hungry as a hostage”
“If they can’t be nice I just might park their truck in another zip code”
And the list goes on. Rest easy my sweet friend, you will be missed.
