August 5, 1976 ~ June 14, 2022

Matthew Aaron Evans was called home to be with the Lord on June 14, 2022. Matthew was cared for by his wonderful children and his devoted twin, Mark. He had many other special friends and family that came to be near him when he needed them most. So many, in fact, it would be impossible to list how many people loved him. Matthew was born on August 5, 1976 to Robert and Carol Evans. He was lucky enough to be born with a built-in best friend for life, his identical twin Mark. Those two were thick as thieves, and anybody who knows them, knows a good story about how much double trouble they were! Matthew married his beautiful wife Alisha on November 2, 1996. Their marriage produced three amazing children, Kassidy, Keyton, and Mackenzie. Matt could not have been more proud of his babies. He loved them all so very much. Matthew had a long career in the Army, a career that spanned from June of 1994 to June of 2022. He served as a Drill Sergeant for twelve years, and was currently working at the 1190th TSB as a Port Operations NCO. Matt was awarded numerous medals and badges for his service. Matt put his heart into everything he did, whether it was for his job, his passions, or his family. Matt enjoyed gardening and taking care of his cows as much as he loved to get everybody together to cook… and man, was he good at that! Matt welcomed everybody to his table with the people he loved. Matt could be incredibly stubborn but inside his chest beat a heart of gold. He would have given you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Mathew was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Carol Evans, his father-in-law, Mr. Harry Slaton, and the love of his life, his wife of twenty-one years, Alisha Evans. Matthew is survived by his special “Mom” Mrs. Gwen Slaton, his sweet sister-in-law Candace and her husband Brandon Lockhart, his niece Ashlyn Carney, his partner in crime Mark Evans and his wife Melissa, his niece LeaAnn, who was much more like a baby sister to him, and her son Brennan (Matt’s little camping buddy), and her daughter Rayleigh. His three miracles, Kassidy, Keyton, and Mackenzie. Special mention to his childhood buddy Jayson Naquin who was like a brother to him. There were also countless number of Army’s buddies that would take all day to mention. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs on Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 9:00am until funeral service at 11:00am. Burial with military honors will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Matt had the most infectious smile and love to make people laugh. He loved to be with his family and talked about them so often to me. He will be missed dearly.
