June 11, 1949 ~ June 20, 2022

Julia “JoAnn” Jackson Carter, 73 of Gonzales, Louisiana went to be with Jesus on Monday, June 20, 2022.

She is survived by Marvin Carter, her doting husband of 54 years, sons Michael (Carla) Carter and Kevin (Kattie) Carter, grandchildren Chance Carter, Chloe (Mason) Inman, and Cole Carter and her great granddaughter Paisley.

She was so passionate about things she loved.  For most of her life she loved cooking from scratch for her family and sharing her knowledge of it.  She was known for being her sons’ biggest fan throughout all of their sporting activities – especially when they wrestled in high school.  She enjoyed motorcycle trips with her husband and CMA friends, spoke often of their unforgettable retirement trip to Italy, she got excited over stock market trends and any “As Seen on TV” products she could order.  She always got a kick out of initiating intense political debates. She often shared her personal stories of recovery from her near-death experiences with anyone and everyone she met. If she cracked a joke, she insisted that you laugh.  She loved chocolate, especially KitKats and was obsessed with taking pictures and videos of her children and grandchildren.  Most of all she was passionate about Jesus and prayed to be by His side before Mr. Marvin.  Her family is grateful she is now rejoicing and all of her burdens are gone.  Anyone who has been there to care for her will now appreciate those moments more than ever.  There will never be another quite like her, and she will be forever remembered and missed.

Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, LA, Friday, June 24, from 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Hiram Stafford Cemetery, Walker, LA. Please share your condolences at www.sealefuneral.com.

I’m just finding out that Mrs. JoAnn left this world. I am so sorry for your loss. She would pop in periodically and we’d chat about different things. She always had something funny to tell me or to say about me, lol. I loved her. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was a beautiful lady. My heartfelt prayers to her husband Marvin, and to all of her family.

    Shalom

JoAnn was my closest cousin, in age. She was 5 months older and when we were little, never let me forget she was older as she bossed me around.
The last few years as my mom aged and passed away, JoAnn and I became closer, gathering information from Mom while we could and sharing stories.
I will miss her calls. She is one of the few people who still called me Phyl to the end.
I know very few with as strong of faith. There is no doubt where she is now.

I’m so sorry to hear about JoAnn. I was pregnant with Kris and she with Kevin at the same time and we became fast friends. She has certainly been through a lot in her life and was a true soldier for the Lord, through it all. Even in the worst of times. I know she is where she always wanted to……in the presence of our Lord. She is healthy and pain free now. Our prayers are with you all as you travel this new journey. God bless you. We love you.
