I love that you were the ‘other grandmother’ and that we were friends because we both wanted what was best for the ‘kids’.
I learned so much from your sweeter, gentler, quieter ways.
While you were already fighting illness, you took the unprecedented, brave step of having a major surgery with no guarantees-
I asked how you would be able to stand the pain they said that you would need to endure- you said that you wanted more time with Larry, you said, that, if possible, you wanted to see Cole and Ryan graduate- you told me that the cost of more time was the pain. You were brave and walked in faith to have more time.
You said that you were not afraid to go, but that you had so much more that you wanted your children and grandchildren to hear from you, but that many times those stories and lessons are only really heard by them when the timing is right. You wanted some more time so that the time was right for them to hear the messages.
You talked about those closest to you that stopped what they were doing in order to be with you as you walked this devastating journey. And you said that those acts of love gave you the strength to keep going.
I treasure our talks and I love that when you crossed the finished line that you were welcomed with love and being whole again in the presence of God. May your love and faith legacy live on in them as a strength to help them on their life journies!

To my biggest inspiration, the best pre school teacher a girl could’ve ever had. You not only taught me my ABCs but you taught me how to love and have compassion but most importantly you showed me my love for music. One day when i’m on broadway i’ll tell the world about you

I really am lost for words. I am so desperately sorry to hear about Phyllis’ passing. She was truly a remarkable woman. And a force of nature. A matriarch to so many beyond the bounds of her own flock. I hope you can find a little solace in the fact she is now at peace, is no longer suffering and finally without pain. At least we know Taffy will be there to greet her. I love you all dearly and i am only a phone call away if you need anything

I am so deeply sorry that Phyllis has moved on to a new existence. We have not been close as adults, but we were as little cousins together visiting our maternal grandparents. She was 2 years older than me and taught me my first dances and how to shave my legs! We loved singing and swinging on the porch swing, by ourselves or with Grandmother. Good times, happy memories.

I’m sorry I can’t be with you now, but I am thinking of all of you and sending my love. May your loving memories of her and her faith comfort and support you and bring you peace in the fullness of time.

    Love,

    Martha Watson
