David Thames

May 27, 1965 ~ August 22, 2022

Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.  James 1:12

David Paul Thames went home to his Lord and Savior on August 22, 2022, at the age of 57, a lifelong resident of Watson, Louisiana, and the Live Oak Community.  He fought kidney disease throughout his life, having received two kidney transplants from his mother, Betty, and treasured friend, David Rushing, giving him the gift of raising his children, Brett and Meagan (“Sister”).  He was raised in a Christian home by his parents and grew up a member of Amite Baptist Church, serving his last years at Watson Baptist Church.  He was loved dearly by his wife of 30 years, Annette (Loper).  He loved his family, which extended to his brothers, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and his greatest joy was his grandbabies.  He is survived by his wife and children Brett and wife Taylor (Broussard) and Meagan and husband Logan Cormier, grandchildren Baylor and Carson Thames, and Lincoln Cormier.  Also survived by his father, Brady Thames, brothers and sisters-in-law Cecil and Melissa, Michael and Kelly, and Joel and Kim, father and mother-in-law Bud and Geraldine Loper, and sisters and brother-in-law Donnis Loper and Sharon and Bubba Lewis and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Lou Slaton Thames.  Visitation at First Baptist Church of Denham Springs on Friday, August 26 5:00-8:00 pm, and Saturday, August 27 9:00 – 11:00 with service at 11:00 officiated by the Reverends Johnny Morgan, John Pemberton, and Gerald Martin.  Graveside service will be at Evergreen Memorial Park.  Pallbearers will be his nephews.
